Caramel frosting

A sweet covering for a cake, the kind of frosting children love.

Ingredients

1⁄4 c cream (dweet cream or half & half)
1 T butter
6 T sugar (brown sugar)
1⁄4 t salt
2 c sugar (confectioners' sugar or icing sugar)

Instructions

Mix cream, butter, brown sugar and salt and place over low heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Do not let boil!

Remove from heat. Stir in confectioners' sugar and vanilla. Stir until cool enough to spread.
