Classic meatloaf

There are many different ways to make a meatloaf. You can add different spices, vegetables and sauces to make it fit your own personal taste. Here is a classic recipe that will show you just how easy this versatile this dish can be. This is the type of home cooking we all love, not only kids.

Ingredients

3 sli bread (white loaf)
1⁄3 c milk (whole milk)
1 1⁄2 lb beef (ground meat)
1⁄2 lb pork (ground meat)
1⁄2 onion (grated)
1 egg (large)
1⁄2 c sauce (tomato ketchup)
3 sli bacon (optional)
2 t salt (or to taste)
1⁄2 t black pepper (or to taste, ground)

Instructions

Crumble bread into mixing bowl. Stir in milk. Add cooked and drained, crumbled meat. Stir in onion, garlic, egg, ketchup, salt and pepper to your liking.

Shape into a loaf. Brush with ketchup and add bacon slices on top if desired.

Bake at 400° F (190° C) for 45 minutes.

Serve with more ketchup or barbecue sauce for dipping of course!

Notes

If using, the bacon can be cooked and crumbled and added on top, mixed into the meatloaf.
