Raw candy

Makes a great sweet treat without loading up on calories. And kids can prepare their own sweet treats.

Ingredients

1 c raisins (seedless)
1 c walnuts (or almonds, already shelled)
1 T cooking oil (vegetable oil)
1 c pistachio (ground or finely chopped)
2 t honey (optional)

Instructions

Blend together raisins and walnuts, or almonds, in a food processor or blender. Test the flavor and add a little hoye as sweetener, if needed.

Coat your hands with oil and roll mixture into individual balls, like forming a peanut butter cookie or a small truffle!

Roll each ball in crushed pistacho. Cover and store in the refridgerator.

Notes

A way to coat you hands with oil is to spray them with nonstick spray.

Variations

Try other dried fruits, such as dates or apricots, insteado of raisins. You could substiture walnuts or almonds for other nuts, such as cashews or pecans.

Other toppings could be ground almonds or other ground nuts, shredded coconut, cocoa powder, citrus zest or miniature candy decorations.

To make chocolate flavored candies, add cocoa powder when making the raisin and nut paste.
