Bread

Nothing beats the smeall of bread baking in the oven and it will be delicious once done. Have the bread when it is still warm and it will taste like heaven.

Ingredients

8 oz flour (bread flour)
1 t salt
1 t sugar
1 T butter (softened)
1 pk yeast (dried yeast)
10 T water (warm, not boiling)
  olive oil (for greasing the bowl)

Instructions

Sift flour, salt and sugar into a bowl.

Rub softened butter into the flour mix.

Mix in dry yeast, thoroughly.

Add warm water and stir the mixture until it starts to thicken. Knead lightly until the dough comes away from the sides of the bowl.

Sprinkle flour over a flat surface and knead the dough for 5 minutes.

Lightly brush the dough with olive oil, place in a bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and leave to rise in a warm place.

When the dough has doubled in size, knock the air out of it and shape into your preferred form. Place on a greased baking tray.

Preheat the oven to 450° F (230° C)

Bake the bread on the middle rack for about 25 minutes, or until the loaf turns golden brown.

Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.

Try a mix of white and wholegrain bread flour.
